RON MADY: “A Family Affair”

4697In August 2008, it was noticeable that my mother could not be left at home alone to take care of herself. My sister and I talked and it was determined that she would need to have sitters with her full time. My sister wanted to keep our mother at home in her familiar surroundings. Since I lived an hour away my sister took on the responsibility of finding sitters that would serve our needs and those of my mother. It became a revolving door of sitters, just as one was into the routine then another would call and say they found a new job. It was difficult finding sitters to fill day and night time shifts. We had heard about an adult daycare that was trying to get started in the area. That would have been the perfect option for us, leaving us with only the night shift to fill .
