What is Fall Prevention?

One in three senior citizens falls each year. Seniors who experience a fall often limit activities due to fear of falling again. Limiting activity puts the person at risk for further falls due to deconditioning, loss of confidence, and loss of muscle strength creating a vicious cycle.

A fall prevention center can provide fall risk assessments, bone densitometer scans, and classes, activities, and programs to reduce the risk of falls.

Why Pulaski County?

Prior to opening no adult day service or fall prevention center existed in Pulaski County. Over one-third of the County’s residents are aged 55 years and older. Most caregivers are family members who are also employed outside the home and they need daytime services within a short driving distance from home and work. The facility is in the geographical center of Pulaski County, close to Interstate 81, and affords easy access for caregivers who drop off and pick up participants.
