All of us want to be part of a community. Interacting with peers and participating in meaningful activities keep us engaged in life.
Some of us are the help our loved ones depend on. Family caregivers need support to do a good job. Our programs and services will help to lengthen the time participants are independent, mobile, and able to live in the community, thereby helping to defer their transfer from their homes to more costly and restrictive institutional settings.
How We Started
More than five years ago, a few local citizens initiated a movement to create awareness of caregiver needs. In 2008 the group formed a board of directors, incorporated, gained 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, and began efforts to provide an adult day service and fall prevention center for adults 18 years and older.
Through a Pulaski County needs assessment we found:
•There is no adult day care service or fall prevention center in the county.
•Among the county’s population of 34,872, 33.6% are age 55 years and older (US Census Bureau, 2010).
•Most caregivers are family members who are also employed outside the home.
We are having an enrollment event on October 19th at the Center from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Click here for more information on the event.
